About acute middle ear infection

Acute middle ear infection is also called as acute otitis media. The condition is most commonly seen in children. Blockage of the eustachian tube due to virus or bacteria is the most common cause. Some cases clear on their own and do not require any treatment. Other cases require medicines to manage pain and antibiotic to clear the infection. If left untreated it can lead to complications like rupture of the ear drum, hearing loss, recurrent infection, etc.
